The first book is Notice and Note by Kyleen Beers and Bob Probst. Stay tuned for lessons on noticing the six signposts found in literature. A wealth of teachers have found them to be extremely beneficial for their students, as they lead to deeper comprehension of text.
The second book is Reading in the Wild by Donalyn Miller (the Book Whisperer). I have been whispering to my reading students for the past two months, and love every book I can share with enthusiasm and passion. Donalyn's latest book is about building on successful school reading, by helping create lifelong readers outside of the classroom. Mrs. Wagenman and I read for pleasure as much as we can, and I hope to ignite that same positive habit.
Since I have just started Reading in the Wild (released on November 4th), I will share my thoughts once I finish the book. Happy reading to all of you!
