I have done a wide variety of reading lately, and I'm sure that I left out some of the shorter books. However, here goes.
Science Fiction books:
The Water Wars by Cameron Stracher (water is scarce and controlled by the government)
Breathe by Sarah Crossan (oxygen is expensive, and the main characters discover a government conspiracy to try and keep the resistance from regrowing trees and starting over)
Resist (sequel to Breathe)
The Testing by Joelle Charbonneau (similar to Hunger Games, where the main character is put through a series of tests to gain admittance to the University and help revitalize the country after the Seven Stages War)
Independent Study (sequel to The Testing)
A few historical fiction books I read this month:
The Storyteller by Jodi Picoult- my favorite author (the historical fiction parts, WWII, are told through two different characters, although the main character's story is realistic fiction)
The Book Thief by Markus Zusak (also a recently released movie, and also about Nazi Germany)
Mystery:
Trash by Andy Mulligan (it takes place in an unnamed Third world country in the not-so-distant future)
**My current read:
The Eye of Minds by the author of The Maze Runner series, James Dashner (a thriller about the dangers of virtual reality video games in the future, on the VirtNet)
Whew...this was the benefit of all of those days off due to the cold. I snuck in a lot of reading time! I hope you can make time to read a choice book, too. Please comment about what you are reading.
